Laurel M. Maller
1918 ~ 2012
Laurel graduated from Sumner High School and attended business college in Hastings, Nebraska. She worked as a secretary in the AAA office in Lexington, Nebraska, for many years.
On May 14, 1944, she married Charles B. Maller in Sumner. They lived in Greensboro North Carolina, where he was stationed while serving in the Army Air Corps. When he was released from the service, they lived in Lexington, Nebraska. In August 1947, they bought the Corner Drug Store in Oakland. In 1958, they built the building where the business is currently located in Oakland.
Laurel has been a member of the First United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She also is a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star and also belongs to PEO Chapter EL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; brother, Stanley J. (Bill) Stewart; son-in-law, William Mulliken; grandson, David Mulliken.
Survivors include her son, Charles Roger Maller (Marge) of Oakland; daughter, Donna Ranee Mulliken of Fremont, Nebraska; three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sister-in-law, Marge Stewart of Lexington; two nieces; one nephew; grand- nieces and nephews and great-grand- nieces and nephews.
FUNERAL SERVICE: Monday, March 12, 2012, 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Oakland.
VISITATION: Sunday, March 11, 2012, 1 - 8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 5 - 7 p.m. at Pelan Funeral Home in Oakland. Visitation Monday will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.
