George H. Fentress

1920 ~ 2012

 

GEORGE H. FENTRESS, 91, of 2290 Wright, Blair, Nebraska passed away June 15, 2012 at Memorial Community Hospital following an accidental fall in his home. He was born to Henry Grady Fentress and Daisy Mae Murkin Fentress on Friday September 13, 1920 in Nashville Tennessee, “a stormy night with the circus in town”.  Graduated High School during the depression year of 1938; served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army Air Corps as a navigator (bombigator) between 1944 – 1946; Graduated Colorado School of Mines as a Geological Engineer in 1948; elected to the Colorado House of Representatives for the years 1964 - 1974. His wife, Mildred Wright Fentress, his brother, Grady Fentress, and sister, Helen Fentress Cromer preceded him in death. Surviving are his son David L Fentress and wife Judy, of Hamilton New Zealand; Daughter Marilyn K Morrow and husband Cliff of Tekamah Nebraska: son Kenneth P. Fentress and wife, Karen of Garland Texas; a very close friend Dorrie Hyde;  6 fabulous grandchildren; 13 awesome great grandchildren. A family gathering took place on June 17, 2012 to remember George Fentress with potential plans for an additional remembrance in Colorado in July.
